Symposium Van Gogh & Japan

Would you like to find out more about topics like Japonism, Primitivsm or Van Gogh's own collection of Japanese prints? Join the symposium 'Van Gogh & Japan' on 6 and 7 June.

To accompany its exhibition Van Gogh & Japan, the Van Gogh Museum is organising a symposium dedicated to topics related to the show. Various experts will present their research and exchange ideas in what promises to be an inspiring meeting between experts in 19th-century Western art and specialists in Japanese art.

Registration fee: € 75. Students: € 50. The first five students to register will get free access. The fee includes admission to the Van Gogh Museum, lunch and refreshments, and an evening reception with a visit to the exhibition.


This one-day symposium will take place on Thursday 7 June, following the official presentation of the Van Gogh Museum’s new publication on Vincent van Gogh’s collection of Japanese prints and a visit to the exhibition Van Gogh & Japan after opening hours on the evening of Wednesday 6 June.
